Thermal Shock Test Chambers

A thermal shock test is performed to determine the resistance of the specimen to sudden changes in alternating extremely low or high temperature. It will cause different parts of the specimen to expand by different amounts. This differential expansion can be equivalent understood in terms of stress or of strain, which can exceed the strength of the specimen to result in a crack or structure failure.
